Geography

Welcome to the Geography Department

We in the Geography Department at Ballyclare High School take great pride in our subject and the work we do with our pupils. The Department is at the forefront of key educational areas such as teaching and learning, use of ICT in the classroom, public examination results, extra-curricular development, fieldtrips and assessment for learning. In recognition of this work we have been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark six times by the British Geographical Association.

The Department enjoys on-going improvement driven by self-evaluation through taking account of what our pupils say, staff development and continued engagement in innovative projects. We continue to develop links with other professionals in other organisations, such as Queen’s University Belfast, Royal Geographical Society, Geographical Association, the Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland and many others.

The Geography Department continues to produce outstanding results at both GCSE and A level, which rival the best schools in the UK. Uptake in Geography is amongst the highest of any school within Northern Ireland indicating the high levels of interest and enthusiasm that our pupils have for the subject.
