Pastoral

Pastoral Care pervades everyday life in Ballyclare High School. It is the vital ingredient when it comes to realising the potential of every child in our care as we nurture them towards adulthood, confident about who they are and what they can achieve.

Our staff are deeply invested in every child’s journey, both academically and personally. For parents, the Form Tutor is the first point of contact and plays a pivotal role in shaping each child’s school experience.

Starting a new school is a big change for everyone, so we have a carefully crafted programme to help pupils and parents adjust and feel comfortable. Even before they arrive, we focus on extending our pastoral care to all who aspire to be part of what we offer here with our:

 

• Primary School Outreach for sport, drama, music, ICT
• P6 familiarisation activities
• Transition projects with feeder primary schools
• Open Night
• Visits to feeder primaries by Head and Assistant Head of Year 8
• SEAG provision for over 300 P7 pupils choosing to take their test in Ballyclare High
• Liaison between P7 teachers, Head of Year 8 and our teacher is charge of special needs
• Induction evening for P7 pupils and their parents
