GCSE English

Our GCSE English Language courses focus on supporting pupils in analytical and creative work where they can shape their opinions and ideas through a careful awareness of how language can be used. Developing skills in these areas through extended pieces of writing and discussion activities is crucial to development not just in English but in many other subjects. The opportunity to choose English Literature alongside English Language provides a strong foundation to build on in other areas.

Our GCSE English Literature classes are built around key questions of how to understand and enjoy reading novels, watching plays and working with poems. The course often involves studying popular texts like Lord of the Flies, Blood Brothers and Pride and Prejudice  as well as Romeo and Juliet or Macbeth alongside various selections of poetry.
