PE Key Stage 3 and 4
Key Stage 3
A broad curriculum is provided for all pupils at key stage 3, enabling the development of motor skills, survival skills and creative flair in the following sports:- hockey/rugby, badminton, netball, basketball, swimming, dance, health-related fitness, athletics, tennis, cricket, football and summer games.
Throughout the year there is also many opportunities for pupils to specialise in chosen sports with a vast range of extra-curricular activities available. We have cross-curricular links with the History department in the promotion of literacy and numeracy.
Key Stage 4
In year 11 and 12 pupils are again given a broad curriculum which include those sports in key stage 3 but additionally, volleyball, team building, spinning, cross-country, orienteering, girls’ rugby and canoeing are provided. As seniors, pupils are given more choice of the activities that they can pursue and the opportunity to develop lifelong skills that will assist them in employment.
At Key Stage 4 we avail of a range of local facilities available to us. This includes the local leisure centre, football pitches, boxing club, squash courts, golf courses etc.
