The Addams Family Musical

By R Erwin on 4 November, 2024

This year’s school musical production was a resounding success. We were delighted to welcome so many of our school family and community through our doors to enjoy the wonderfully entertaining production that was filled with humour, heart, and, of course, a touch of the macabre.

Our pupils and staff poured their energy, creativity, and enthusiasm into bringing this quirky and much-loved family to life on stage, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work. A special thanks must go to our talented producer, Mr Jo McColgan, whose vision and dedication have made this production possible. Jo previously served as Head of Performing Arts at Lagan College and as the Artistic Director for the Lyric Theatre Studio in Belfast. His directing credits include Oliver Twist, Grease, and Little Shop of Horrors. Jo has also collaborated with the National Theatre as part of their ‘Branching Out’ programme and had the privilege of directing at the Dorfman Theatre (formerly the Cottesloe Theatre) at the National Theatre in London. Jo retired last year after 34 years in education, including 11 years as Principal of Ashfield Boys’ High School. With the support of our Music department and choreographer, Jo and his team have worked tirelessly to bring out the best in our pupils, ensuring that this showcase of talent was a night to remember for us all.

A heartfelt thanks and congratulations must also go to our stage team, set team, tech team, and office staff for their dedication and commitment, making it possible for us to enjoy the spooky yet heartwarming world of The Addams Family!

To our pupils, you truly embodied the spooky, kooky spirit of the Addams family and we were blown away by your talent!
