Soroptimist Winners

Congratulations to Poppy Thomas of Year 13 on winning the Newtownabbey heat of the Soroptimist International Northern Ireland prize for her speech based on a New England proverb: “Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.” 

 

Aimee Jenkins also of Year 13 was awarded a Special Certificate of Achievement for a speech on the problems in store for her generation. The judges commented on the high calibre of all the speeches.

 

Poppy will now go forward to the next stage of the competition against the other Northern Irish heat winners in Hillsborough on the 3 February, 2018.

 

The young Soroptimists should be commended additionally as they spent the Saturday prior to this competition which was held on Tuesday evening, competing in the Bar Mock Trial.
