Retirement

By Ballyclare High School on 10 May, 2022

Mr Raymond Abernethy has taught sign language here in school for 20 years and has decided to retire this year. He worked with 6th form pupils giving them the basics of sign language in a fun and interactive way. His passion for sharing sign language with the hearing community has been remarkable. Pupils were taught to sign a variety of greetings and the alphabet in some of the lessons; indeed, he steered the lessons according to their interests. He has been a huge asset to school and the pupils and staff will miss him enormously and wish him the best for the future.
