Ballyclare High School students win through to national Poetry Aloud final in Dublin.

Ballyclare High pupils Jonathan Marshall  Year 8 and Leah McDonald  Year 11 saw off competition from 1,700 entrants to reach the final stage of the annual Poetry Aloud competition, organised by the National Library of Ireland (NLI) and Poetry Ireland, in partnership with UCC.

Poetry Aloud is an annual poetry speaking competition for post-primary school students across the island of Ireland. The Poetry Aloud competition has three categories: junior, intermediate and senior. Jonathan Marshall won through in the junior category and Leah McDonald in the intermediate category and competed alongside 125 participants from 82 schools nationwide in the semi-final, and have now qualified through to the final. A fantastic achievement.

The Poetry Aloud 2018 final will take place on Friday, 7th December at the National Library of Ireland. Good luck, Leah and Jonathan.
