Saturday 17th Sept vs Rainey

The 1stXI played Rainey away in the Super League on Saturday 15th September. Ballyclare began strongly and held on well to possession, passing the ball confidently around the back. Rainey were tough opposition, however, securing ten short corners during the game. It is a testament to the Ballyclare defence that nine of these were successfully defended, but unfortunately Rainey converted the remaining one via a deflection off a defender. This was to be the only goal of the game. Ballyclare played as a team and remained calm under increasing pressure; Laura Chesnutt was Player of the Match for some fine saves in the Ballyclare goal.

The 2BXI and 3rdXI teams both played midweek at Belfast High School. Belfast High started off with centre pass in the 2BXI game, but Ballyclare quickly gained possession and held on to it for most of the first half. The forwards made some great runs but the midfield aided forward play by clearing the ball wide. Ballyclare won a few short corners, with Lauren hitting out strongly each time, but none were converted. Extensive possession eventually told with Lucy Graham scoring for Ballyclare just before half time.
The pattern of the second half was much the same, although Rhianna in the Ballyclare goal had to make some important saves. Despite a few more attempts from Ballyclare, the final score remained 1-0.

In the 3rdXI match, Ballyclare pressed hard from the home team’s centre pass and took possession. Some good pressure resulted in a Ballyclare short corner, but no goal was scored. Belfast High were making strong tackles in defence and the sides were fairly evenly matched in this half.
Despite further pressure, Ballyclare were unable to find the back of the net. The final score was 0-0 with Jessica Hunter named Player of the Match.
