By Ballyclare High School on 12 November, 2018

There were two good wins in cup competitions for the 1stXI and 2BXI this weekend.

The 1stXI beat Cookstown High School 5-1 in the Schools’ Cup, even though Cookstown took an early lead. Ballyclare responded in style, with Megan Cochrane deflecting in a penalty corner strike. Further goals from Rebecca McCullough and Amy McGookin stretched the away team’s lead, with Megan Cochrane scoring twice more to complete her hat trick before the end of the game. Rachel Hill was player of the match.

After a 2-2 midweek draw in the Cup the 2BXI were in fine form for this Gibson Cup game, Zoe Black and Zoe Ferguson sharing player of the match in a 5-1 win against Carrick Grammar. Ellen McIlvenny scored first for Ballyclare, with Ellie McBurney adding a second and Jessica Hunter a third before half time. Carrick responded in the second half with a goal, but Ellie McBurney scored again to put the game beyond reach before Beth McCrea scored a fifth to seal the win.

The 3rdXI recorded a convincing 3-0 win against Ballymena Academy, with a goal from Abbie Gilliland in the first half and Rachel Neill adding two more in the second. Lucy McCammond was player of the match. The U15s, who were also playing Ballymena, won 1-0.

The U14B team lost 2-1 to a very strong Carrick Grammar side, although Ballyclare were first to put the ball in the back of the net through Sophie Kerr. Jessica Douglas was player of the match here. The U14C team recorded an impressive 5-0 victory, with the U13As winning 3-0. In the U13B game, Zoe Young scored the first and last goal and was named player of the match in their 3-0 win over Carrick, with Mollie McDowell providing the second goal in a convincing performance.
