Match Report: Saturday 1st Dec v Victoria College

The 2ndXI put good pressure on Victoria from the start, with two short corners forcing good saves from the ‘keeper. One break by Victoria also resulted in a great stop from Niamh Hogan in the Ballyclare goal. Victoria scored in the second half with Saffy Cockcroft putting Ballyclare on the board for a 1-1 draw. Issy McGrugan was player of the match.

The 2BXI match was a Gibson Cup game, which Ballyclare won 2-1. Player of the match Rhianna Logan made a fine double save in the Ballyclare goal to deny Victoria, before Ellen McIlvenny’s deflected shot broke the deadlock. A second deflected shot at the other end of the pitch made it 1-1 at half time. Ellen McIlvenny scored again in the second half to make it 2-1 and the Ballyclare girls held on for the win despite increasing pressure from the Victoria forwards.

The 3rdXI also worked hard to secure a great 3-0 win.

It was a 1-0 win for the U14A team, with a first half goal from a powerful Rachel Black strike. Jen Lamont was player of the match for skilful work in an unfamiliar position. The U14Bs recorded an impressive 3-0 victory, with first half goals from Sophie Kerr and Louise Montgomery to make it 2-0 at half time. Olivia Jenkins scored the final goal in the second half to seal the win. Lea Nesbitt was player of the match.

The U13As enjoyed a fantastic 5-0 win, with goals from Rachel McCann, Katie-Anna Weatherup and Rachel Cox – who was also player of the match. The U13Bs were unfortunate to lose 2-0 in a tough game.
