Match Report: Saturday 13th Oct v Strathearn

The 1stXI started well with a Megan Cochrane goal after just a few minutes, followed by her second and then a third from Rebecca McCullough before half time. As the defence held tight, with strong work from player of the match Katie Stewart, Megan Cochrane completed her hat-trick before Rebecca Walker scored Ballyclare’s fifth goal in a 5-1 win.

A 2ndXI short corner led to a Leah Wilson goal and 1-0 half-time lead. After conceding early in the second half, Ballyclare rallied well with Hannah Masson scoring the winning goal. Abigail Kennedy was player of the match.

Under immediate pressure, the 3rdXI worked hard for a goalless draw at half time. With a better second half performance, Daisy Stewart broke the deadlock in this 1-0 victory. Abbie Gilliland was player of the match.

 

The U15s secured a great 3-0 win, with Abbie Gilliland again named player of the match. Katie Simmons scored two first half goals, both as a result of penalty corners, with Sarah Stewart knocking in a third in the second half to record an impressive victory.

 

The 14As encountered a strong Strathearn team who struck twice before the break in spite of good Ballyclare play. A stronger second half from Ballyclare saw Grace Marks named player of the match for some fine saves, losing 2-0. It was a difficult game for the U14Bs, conceding two first half goals. Strong defensive work in the second limited Strathearn to only one goal in this period, losing 3-0. Louise Montgomery was player of the match. The U14Cs lost 3-2 in a tight game.

The U13As worked hard, Rachel Cox scoring just before half time. Katie-Anna Weatherup scored again in the second half before Strathearn pulled one back before the end. Erin McCartney was player of the match. Despite early Strathearn pressure, the U13B defence held firm with player of the match Ellie Gould making important clearances. Anna Wylie’s second half goal proved decisive as Ballyclare won 1-0. The U13Cs won 1-0 with a second half goal from Annie Johnston. Player of the match was Ellie Hanlon.
