By Ballyclare High School on 14 October, 2019
Issy McGrugan scored the first goal in the 1st XI’s crucial Superleague game against Regent House. It was a fast-paced first half with several chances at both ends, but only Ballyclare were able to capitalise. A second goal was added by Amy McGookin after the break to secure the win and a place in the quarter-finals, with Rachel Hill voted player of the match.
Although the 2AXI secured a super 6-0 McDowell Cup win midweek against Glenlola, they were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to Regent on Saturday morning, conceding in the second quarter. The girls worked hard in the second half to create chances, but were unable to see any of them converted. Holly Woodside was player of the match.
On the back of a midweek 3-0 Gibson Cup win against Armagh, the 2BXI were flying after just a few minutes, through Jade Allison and Kelsey Smyth goals with only seven minutes on the clock. Kelsey added another before half time to make it 3-0 at the break. Katie King, Abbie Gilliland and goal number two for Jade Allison completed the second half haul to make the final score a fabulous 6-0 win to Ballyclare. Jessica Hunter was player of the match.
With the score 0-0 at half time, the 3rd XI came out in the second half determined to break the deadlock. It was player of the match Gemma McBurney who found the breakthrough with a goal just after half time, Emily Green adding a second before the end of the game. Final result 2-0 to Ballyclare.
It was a superb 6-0 win for the U14A team this week, with Katie-Anna Weatherup scoring twice in the first five minutes. Katie Ireland scored a third goal just a few minutes later and Ballyclare were in control of the game. Goals four and five were scored by Rachel Cox, to see Ballyclare 5-0 up at half time. Regent did force a save from Ballyclare goalkeeper Joy Duncan at the start of the second half, but this pressure was short lived as Katie-Anna Weatherup completed her hat trick to score Ballyclare’s sixth and final goal. A fabulous win; Chloe Moore and Katie Ireland were joint player of the match.
The U14B team won their match 6-1.
The first half saw two goals for the U13A team, the first from Evie McCullagh and the second from Grace McAllister. Despite other chances, the half time score was 2-0 to Ballyclare. Regent countered well in the second half and managed to pull one goal back, but the match ended with a 2-1 Ballyclare victory. Rebecca Smyth was player of the match.
Evie Moore and Susie McBride scored two early second-half goals for the U13B team in their win on Saturday. In spite of a 0-0 score line at half time, the girls came out determined to take the lead and did just that. Ruth McAuley added a third goal before Evie Moore scored her second – and the fourth of the match – to round off a great result. Rachel Johnston was player of the match.
