Ballyclare High Hockey v Wallace Saturday 22nd September

It was a 1-0 win for the 3rdXI against Wallace on Saturday with plenty of pressure from both sides in a close game. The Ballyclare goal came from a short corner early in the first half, turned in at the post by Emily Green. Reagan Montgomery was player of the match in a game characterised by strong communication.

 

The U15s played Wallace at UUJ and Ballyclare started strong. It was an evenly matched first half, Holly Conn breaking the deadlock for a 1-0 half-time lead. A brilliant second half brought superb play from player of the match Abbie Gilliland, enabling Rachel Neil to score a second. Lara Norwood scored the final goal just before time to seal a 3-0 win.

The U14A team came up against strong opposition. Despite great passing from Joanna Nesbitt, Rachel Steele and Maddy Stewart, Wallace scored. In the second half Eva Hughes and Gemma McBurney both worked hard up front; however, Wallace managed to net another to leave the final score 2-0. Player of the match was Rachel Black.

The U14B team held Wallace to a 0-0 draw and although Ballyclare began well, with some brilliant balls by Jessica Douglas and Amie Reid, Wallace kept the pressure on. During the second half Wallace pressed hard, forcing the defence to work and producing fabulous saves from player of the match Lydia Brady.

In the U13A game, Chloe Moore set up Rachel Cox to score for Ballyclare, with Katie-Anna Weatherup assisting Rachel for her second goal. Wallace pulled one back in the second half, but Rachel Cox completed her hat trick to leave the final score 3-1. Joy Duncan was player of the match.

 

U13B player of the match Claudia Braiden made some great saves during their game and defenders Sarah Walker and Katie Wasson also played well, clearing the ball strongly. With both sides evenly matched, the score remained 0-0 at the final whistle.

The U13C team won 1-0, with Ellie Hanlon coming close for Ballyclare in the first half. It took some super second half interplay between Mollie McDowell and Annie to result in player of the match Mollie scoring the winning goal.
