Hockey Awards Evening

By Ballyclare High School on 12 April, 2019

Congratulations to everyone involved in another successful awards night. 200 players and staff celebrated a very successful year of school hockey. Numerous awards were presented the majority of which were voted for by the players themselves which makes them even more special. Our special guest was Zoe Wilson World Cup Silver Medalis at last year’s World Cup in London.

The following achievements were noted reaching the Schools’ Cup Final for the 1sts, 14 Plate Final for the 14s, 3rds semi-final of the Cup, 2Bs and 2s in the quarter-finals of their Cup, Year 8 winning the Lynsey Waller Memorial Trophy. On top of this we won the overall title in the South Antrim League with the 1sts, 2bs and 13s winning their titles outright and the 2s and 14s sharing their trophies.

It was also a special occasion for the Club and the Walker Family who donated a Cup on behalf of Greg Walker who passed away suddenly this season. Greg was a constant supporter of his ‘girls’, wife Elaine and father of Jasmine, who captained the firsts when at School and Rebecca currently a 1stXI player. He was as happy being at the side of the pitch or helping us with all the little details we needed for fundraising events. The Cup was awarded in its inaugural year to Anna O’Hara for outstanding dedication to our club. Thank you to the Walker Family for their generosity.
