Defibrillator gift for Ballyclare High School

It has always been important for school to ensure health and safety measures are prominent and to have potentially life-saving pieces of equipment can be costly. However, Christmas miracles do happen; through the school’s annual Carol Service charity appeal we have been gifted a new AED machine to replace one of the two the school needs to upgrade. The AED (Automated External Defibrillator) was very kindly donated by a local businessman, Mr Chris Hall Managing Director, W. Hall Ltd.

Shortly after the request was made Mr Hall, who currently has a son at school, came forward making an offer to purchase the AED.

  1. Hall Ltd is a material handling company based in Mallusk Newtownabbey (also in Leighton Buzzard). They have been in operation for over 45 years and sell a wide range of products and services including forklifts, warehouse equipment, pallet trucks, access equipment, forklift and pallet part trucks, servicing, and battery maintenance.

The AED has been installed and this donation could ultimately save a life, but we of course hope that it never has to.

Principal Dr Michelle Rainey said: “Ballyclare High would like to thank Mr Hall and W. Hall Ltd for this most generous and thoughtful donation. The impact on the community is not only the potential for life to be saved but it supports our ongoing focus on raising awareness of the value of possessing CPR skills and taking responsibility as fellow citizens for providing first aid to those who need it. The addition of the AED on our school premises makes the environment safer for pupils, staff, parents, and visitors.”

Mr Chris Hall Managing Director at W. Hall Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide the AED to School. Obviously, we hope that this life-saving piece of equipment will never have to be used but it is reassuring to know that it is there if it is ever needed.”
