Cricket Report Tuesday 30th May
By Ballyclare High School on 30 May, 2023
Opportunities for midweek fixtures were limited due to the school examinations, but the regular block of Saturday McCullough Cup fixtures was scheduled to be played against Wallace High School.
All fixtures played resulted in wins for Wallace High, and the Under 14 game was cancelled due to players being involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
The 1st X1 lost in a close finish but there are no details available for this game.
The Under 15s batted first and posted a challenging target thanks to Jude Wilson’s unbeaten 50. Despite a steady bowling and fielding performance, Wallace earned a win by 5 wickets after a successful run chase.
The Under 13 team reached 125 for 6 from their allocation of 20 overs, with Jacob Donnelly making 50 not out. Wallace reached their target with just over two overs to spare to win by 7 wickets.
Earlier in the week the Under 12 team played BRA in the Centenary Plate and lost by 36 runs. Daniel Gerrish was the leading scorer with 31 from 37 deliveries faced.
The final block of McCullough Cup fixtures will be contested against BRA this Saturday. During the week, the Under 14s will travel to Lurgan Junior High. Games arranged in the Plate competitions include the Under 15s against Friends School Lisburn and the Under 13s against Antrim Grammar School.
