Cricket Report Monday 19th June

By Ballyclare High School on 19 June, 2023

Although most teams have now completed their competitive fixtures for the term, the 1st X1 are still involved in the President’s Plate competition.

The team will face either Lurgan College or Foyle College in the semi final, after an impressive win over Coleraine Grammar. Batting first Coleraine could only reach 97 for 9 from their allocation of overs. Adam Kerr returned the best bowling figures of 3 for 13 and was well supported by Andrew Leckey who took 2 for 8. Team captain Finn Lutton, recently selected for the Northern Knights at senior-inter provincial level, controlled the run chase with an excellent innings of 59, guiding Ballyclare to a comfortable 7-wicket win.

There was more good news for Ballyclare High cricket with the inclusion of Jacob Scarlett in the Ulster Schools’ side to face MCC at Campbell College on Tuesday 20 June.

There were more opportunities for competitive play for the girls’ teams last week with both the Year 8 and Year 9 sides producing good performances at the NCU tournaments hosted by Friends’ School Lisburn.
