Computer and iPad Recycling Scheme

By Ballyclare High School on 29 January, 2021

We are pleased to announce the continuation of our computer recycling scheme at Ballyclare High School for 2021. Over the past few years we have had an amazing response, thank you, and our pupils have benefited from up-cycled machines that they can use in school and at home for their studies. In the current climate we have children in need of this support more than ever so we are hoping to boost our provision for them to support remote learning, often in homes where two or three children are sharing one device.
If you have an old laptop or ipad then we would love to take them off your hands. The scheme aims to recycle otherwise older, slower devices in our community and give them a new, more environmentally friendly, retirement rather than the skip!

Here is the techy bit…all devices will be wiped of any operating systems and software. They will then be ready for home use by pupils or used to repair and replace other machines in school. This ensures that older ‘slow’ devices are revitalised and get a new lease of life! Donations to the school will be gratefully received and you can be assured the pupils of Ballyclare High School will benefit greatly. Please leave any machines that might be of use to us in to the School reception. Sincerest thanks to those who have already donated in this way in recent weeks.

Kind Regards
Gareth Shaw, Chair of ICT Strategy Group
