Belfast Dragon Boat Regatta 2017

By Ballyclare High School on 8 June, 2017

On Saturday 3rd of June, 16 staff members of Ballyclare High School joined over 400 other participants at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast to compete at Belfast’s first dragon boat regatta. The event was organised by The Lagan Dragons, N.Ireland’s only breast cancer survivor dragon boat team. Our art teacher and boat captain for the event, Orla McAdam is a breast cancer survivor and keen member of the Lagan Dragons. The aim of the event was to raise the profile of dragon boating as a sport and also to raise awareness about breast cancer. The Ballyclare High School team competed in three races, where they placed 2nd, 1st and 1st, but unfortunately did not qualify for the final. Thank you, Lagan Dragons for organising the event, team BHS were very proud to be a part of it.
