Ballyclare Primary School P6 Class Visits Ballyclare High School for Digital SchoolHouse Lesson
By Ballyclare High School on 7 November, 2024
On 7th November 2024, Mr. Stewart’s P6 class from Ballyclare Primary School visited Ballyclare High School for an exciting and interactive learning experience. The highlight of the day was a dynamic Digital SchoolHouse lesson, where the students explored the concept of algorithms in a fun and engaging way.
The lesson was led by Mr. Shaw, who used the popular game Just Dance to help explain algorithms. He showed the students how, much like a dance routine with its series of coordinated steps, algorithms consist of a sequence of instructions that lead to a specific result. The interactive lesson made computer science both accessible and enjoyable for the young learners.
“The children absolutely loved it! Using Just Dance really helped them understand how algorithms are part of everyday life,” said Mr. Shaw. “It’s crucial for them to realize that computing isn’t just about coding—it’s about creativity and problem-solving as well.”
This visit marks another successful collaboration between Ballyclare Primary and Ballyclare High School, underscoring the importance of introducing digital skills and careers to young students in an increasingly digital world. The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by Mr. Stewart’s class highlighted the potential for further learning and development in the field of computing.
