Today, Miss Ewart’s P6 class from Ballyclare Primary School,  enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to Ballyclare High School. The highlight of their trip was a vibrant Digital SchoolHouse lesson, where they delved into the world of algorithms in a fun and interactive way.

Mr. Shaw facilitated the lesson, incorporating the popular game Just Dance to illustrate the concept of algorithms. He explained to the students that just as dance routines consist of a series of coordinated steps to create a performance, algorithms are sequences of instructions that lead to a specific outcome. The lively atmosphere made learning about computer science both enjoyable and relatable for the young learners.

“The kids loved it! Using Just Dance made it easy for them to understand how algorithms work in everyday life,” Mr. Shaw commented. “It’s important for them to see that computing isn’t just about coding; it’s about problem-solving and creativity too.”

Today’s event marked a successful collaboration between Ballyclare Primary and Ballyclare High School, emphasizing the importance of early exposure to digital skills and careers in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The engagement and excitement displayed by the primary school students showcased the potential for future learning and growth in the field of computing.
