Arts Council grant success
By Ballyclare High School on 17 March, 2020
The music department has been successful in securing a grant for musical instruments from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The school has been able to purchase a piccolo, a bass clarinet, a tenor saxophone and a baritone saxophone, thanks to this funding. Head of Music, Dorothy Orr, is delighted with this award and much needed instruments. “There was great excitement when the new instruments arrived and rightly so. Large instruments and bass instruments are so important for our ensembles, so these will be used weekly in our school bands and will really add to the extra-curricular work we do in Ballyclare High School. We have many capable young musicians who will fully exploit the opportunity to play these high-quality instruments. Our Spring Concert is in less than a month and our Wind Band will be competing at the National Concert Band Festival finals at the start of April. These instruments will provide a much-needed boost and will be used straight away. We are extremely grateful for this support by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and from our funding partners, Original Telecoms and TDK Property Services.
