Abbey Centre’s Lifesaving Skills Schools Initiative

Year 13 Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors, along with some of our teachers and Year 13 Health and Social Care pupils, recently took part in Abbey Centre’s Lifesaving Skills Schools Initiative training which was delivered by Staff Nursing Ltd.

This most informative and practical course taught our pupils the responsibilities of a first responder, the steps for assessment of an unconscious casualty, how to recognise common causes of emergency and the procedures for dealing with them, including choking and the use of Epi-pens. Pupils also had the opportunity to learn how to perform CPR effectively, and on the use of an AED.

We are very grateful for the instruction from nurse trainer, William Giles, and to David McClurg who helped to organise this amazing opportunity.
