This year has been a very successful year for the school Netball teams, with an increase in the number of pupils attending netball club and a number of pupils selected to play on Development Squads.

Senior Squad

This year saw the introduction of a senior netball afternoon with a very keen bunch of mainly Year 13 and 14 pupils, accompanied by a few Year 11 girls. The teams were mixed and the girls worked hard to improve their speed of play, team possession, footwork and shooting skills. These games were not for the faint hearted and made for an entertaining afternoon of netball.

Leah Young, Kelsey Graham, Ellen Hall and Chloe Frizzell were successful in being selected and played in the U19 Challenge Tournament.

Year 10 Squad

Year 10 netball takes place one afternoon a week with a number of match days. A very eager bunch of girls were committed to compete for their place in the school squad this year. This group were very competitive and this showed in their match play. They were successful in reaching the semi-final of the cup, but unfortunately got knocked out by a stronger team on the day.

Erin McCauley, Hannah Taylor, Jessica Hunter were successful in securing selection on the U15 Development Squad.

Year 9 Squad

Training takes place one afternoon a week and then pupils have the opportunity to play in the league. Each week there was fierce competition to fight for their position on the school team through improving spatial awareness, balance and footwork, teamwork and tactical play.

Cara Ferguson, Erin McCartney, Rachel Cox and Jen Lamont were successful in securing selection on the U13 Development Squad.

Year 8 Squad

All year 8 are given the opportunity to attend netball training once a week and then the squad is selected based on footwork and core skills to compete in one-day tournament competitions. For some, Year 8 netball introduces pupils to a new set of skills and an opportunity to be part of a team, which they haven’t been able to have before now.
