Netball

Netball club takes place each week from Monday to Friday, with different age groups training on different days. All abilities of pupils are able to try out for the Netball squad within their year group and depending on the competition, some pupils are able to play with the year above.

We play in the school league and the NEBBSA competition’s each year, but due to COVID and lockdown the Year 8’s were unfortunate to miss out on their one-day competition in 2020. The year 9’s and 10’s won the group stage and managed to get to the quarter-final of their respective leagues, with closely fought matches against Magherafelt and Ballymena Academy.

We try to play a number of inter-school competitions as well, to help progress skills and game play and to add a little extra competition to the mix. The Year 9 squad put up a good fight against the Year 10’s, but were just pipped at the post.

Each year pupils’ skills and abilities are assessed and targets are set to try and achieve a place on the respective U15 and U17 Development squads. Those who are successful then go on to play a series of games against other squads, outside of school.
