Life Skills

At Ballyclare High School, Life Skills plays a key role in supporting the personal, social and emotional development of our pupils. Delivered every Tuesday morning, the programme provides dedicated time for pupils to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to thrive both in school and beyond.
Life Skills lessons give pupils opportunities to explore a wide range of relevant and engaging topics including wellbeing, relationships, online safety, careers, study skills, digital awareness, financial capability and responsible decision-making in a supportive environment. The programme encourages pupils to become respectful, resilient and informed individuals who are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges of modern life.
In line with guidance from the Education Authority and Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment (CCEA), pupils at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 study core Learning for Life and Work strands including Citizenship, Personal Development and Employability. At Key Stage 5, pupils continue to build upon these areas through age-appropriate learning experiences which help prepare them for higher education, employment and adult life.
Our Life Skills provision is delivered across all year groups and reflects the values and ethos of Ballyclare High School, helping pupils to feel supported, valued and equipped for the future.
