Cricket Results – Summary of the season to date
By Ballyclare High School on 16 May, 2022
Just a brief summary of cricket results in the opening weeks:
The 12s shaped up on Fri v Parkhall with a ‘mutually agreed’ draw with us losing a wicket to tie the scores on the last ball. However, our 12s progress in the Ferris Cup with fewer wickets lost chasing the 86 total in 16 overs. They followed this up with a win on Sat by 18 runs over Foyle Col.
In the McCullough League Cup matches the U13s created history by putting out Foyle Col’s U13s for 2 runs and winning by 10wks. Jude Semple’s hattrick and 4 wks for 0 runs is also history making!
The last lowest single score for a team I can remember in my 35 yrs plus was my nephew Mark’s team at U12 chasing 200 by RBAI at the School pitch but were all out for 5 runs …!!!
The U14s lost by 33 runs at Folye College on Sat but put up a decent show against some quick bowling to score 50 runs. This Thurs sees them travel to Lurgan College for their Ulster Schools’ cup game.
The U15s defeated Belfast HS in their Ulster Schools’ Cup by 52 runs with captain James Hood scoring 27 runs and taking 5wks for 4runs. Face Wallace HS in 2nd round.
The 1st XI having only made 54 in their 1st round School’s Cup, due to the length of the grass at Hollinger, the very poor state of the artificial mat for batting and tight bowling by Down HS. Our 1stXI put up a super bowling performance led by Bryn McCallan to capture 8 wickets but eventually lost by just 2 wks. They play Lurgan College in the President’s Plate 1st round.
