At Ballyclare High School, we offer a unique leadership opportunity through our STEM Ambassador programme, designed for senior pupils in Year 13 and 14. This programme empowers pupils to become role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), providing them with valuable training and experience to support STEM projects both within the school and in our partner primary schools.

The ethos behind the STEM Ambassador programme is to nurture leadership skills, creativity, and teamwork while promoting a passion for STEM subjects. Pupils appointed as STEM Ambassadors receive excellent training, which not only enhances their understanding of STEM but also equips them with the skills to mentor younger pupils and support a variety of STEM initiatives. This experience is highly beneficial for UCAS applications and university interviews, as it demonstrates commitment, leadership, and community engagement.

Through their involvement, STEM Ambassadors gain experience working with primary school pupils, helping to deliver engaging workshops, run STEM clubs, and organize events like competitions and themed science activities. They also collaborate with teachers to support school events, provide mentoring to younger pupils, and contribute to the development of creative STEM projects. Each year brings new challenges and opportunities, making the programme both dynamic and rewarding. The skills and experiences gained through the STEM Ambassador programme are not only valuable for personal growth but also for future academic and career prospects.
