The latest round of fixtures in the McCullough Cup saw Ballyclare High’s cricket teams achieve encouraging wins in all three of the fixtures completed against Friends’ School Lisburn.

The Under 12 side continued their preparation for the upcoming Centenary Cup semi final with a four-wicket win over Friends. The Lisburn school could only score 63 runs, with Ryan Arthur, Adam McGookin and Josh Reynolds all claiming one wicket. Ballyclare’s successful run chase was led by Noah Morton who scored a valuable 27 runs.

The Under 14 side was involved in a closely contested match which reached its dramatic conclusion in the last over of the game. Friends posted a challenging total of 126 for 9, despite three wickets for Jacob Donnelly, and two wickets apiece for Harry Webb, Krish Shukla and Sam Leetch. The Ballyclare reply started well with a positive innings of 38 runs from Jacob Donnelly. After the loss of a few quick wickets, it fell to Ethan Kilpatrick (20 not out) and Daniel Jenkins (16 not out from only nine deliveries faced) to secure the win with an unbeaten partnership of 20 runs. Daniel scored the winning runs with a six in the final over.

The Under 15 team enjoyed a more comfortable but equally impressive win. Having restricted Friends to only 49 runs, they secured a seven-wicket win. The highlight was a strong all-round performance from Jack Smyth who took two wickets and scored 33 not out. The other bowling honours were shared between Cooper Donnelly (2 for 11), Austin Adair (2 for 5), Jude Semple (1 for 6) and Daniel Arthurs (1 for 2).

The next scheduled block of fixtures is against Foyle College, while the Under 12 team and the 1st XI are due to play RBAI and Wallace High in their respective Cup competitions.
