Table Tennis

Coming along to the Table Tennis club can be a great way to wind down after a hard day at school. There is a relaxed atmosphere in the hall and membership is open to players of all ages and disciplines. Pupils with a wide range of abilities attend, from Ulster medallists to complete beginners.

We set up a special machine to help pupils with their technique and older pupils enjoy passing on their expertise to our younger members. There is a steep learning curve at the beginning and you will be pleasantly surprised at how much improvement you can make in a matter of months.

Throughout the year pupils participate in league competitions. In addition, there is an annual knock-out competition where teams across Ulster come to compete for the Cup.

Facilities

Ballyclare High school have eight table tennis tables which are used for our club. These are set up on a Friday afternoon in the assembly hall and gym.

Achievement Reports

In 2017 the Table Tennis Club continued to succeed, with a number of impressive victories. Our U16 girls played some excellent matches at the Ulster Individual’s Championship and Jessica Baird (Year 11) earned a silver medal, losing narrowly in the final. Our U16 and U14 boys reached the quarter finals in the same cup, but it was our U12 boys team who really stole the limelight. Not content with winning the Ulster Boys Team Championships, they went on to win the All Ireland Championships in Tallaght, Dublin. This is an outstanding achievement from a young team with considerable potential in Table Tennis. Congratulations to Max Gannon, Conor  Dargan, Sebastian Kidd, Alex Darrah, Peter Baird and Oliver Boden on this fantastic achievement.
