Our school council has now a firmly established place in the life of Ballyclare High School. We have a single council body which has representatives drawn from each registration group from every year group in school. We typically have a pattern of monthly meetings with issues of special interest being dealt with by smaller groups of representatives in the interim. Our office bearers are expected to set agendas, chair and minute each meeting in order to develop their own leadership skills as well as trying to reflect the concerns of the wider school community.
Our council has had a part to play in making decisions on whole school issues such as assemblies and uniform while it has also been involved more directly in co-ordinating pupil response to consultations offered by other agencies outside school.
